玉米餐具是我們聽說的“能吃的餐具嗎?”
所謂“玉米餐具”,其實是由玉米淀粉中提取出的PLA(生物降解塑料聚乳酸)制作而成,所以想要了解玉米餐具就要從PLA入手。PLA全稱為polylacticacid,屬于聚酯家族,它是以乳酸為主要原料聚合得到的聚合物,常見的聚乳酸材料熱穩定性非常好,可以耐受170~230℃的高溫,并具有一定的耐菌性、阻燃性和抗紫外性,常用于醫療衛生領域(外科縫合線、骨科固定和組織修復材料、手術衣、手術覆蓋布等等)。除此之外,聚乳酸的生產全過程無污染,可以在自然界中生物降解,更是理想的綠色高分子新型材料。

當然,還有很多人認為,“可降解物質”就等于“脆弱的物質”,這是一種毫無依據的猜測。可降解要滿足三個條件:充足的水氣(相對濕度90%以上)、充足的氧氣(非密閉循環)和適當的溫度(58~70℃),所以在我們日常生活中,純玉米餐具是很難由于擺放或使用時間過長而有所消耗。不過,純植物的PLA材質在堅固性方面還是有一定缺陷的,我們的產品面對的是經常失控的嬰幼兒,摔落和磕碰在所難免,因此在生產初期就會添加害的礦物質以增加原材料的堅固度,使它比一般的塑料餐具更堅固更結實。
